my hiatus from here = over
(on account of this is too good not to share)

Earlier this evening, I had myself a Sex in the City, Post-It note break-up moment—or the internet equivalent, at least. The man I have been (on-and-off and dysfunctionally, yes, but still consistently) dating for the past eighteen months, sent an email expressing his desire to cease seeing me romantically, and requesting that we redefine our relationship in terms of friendship alone at this point.

Truth be told, I had reached a similar conclusion in recent days, as hungry for clarity (see: friendship over romance and/or sex) as G. (the man of whom I write) has revealed himself to be. The difference: explaining my position and decision to no longer date G. is something I would never have considered not doing in person.

Clearly, G. is unaware that an email is no way to end (or attempt to reshape) a relationship. An internet break-up is lacking in:
1) respect for the recipient,
2) emotional maturity, and
3) common decency.

In light of the unbelievable (and unbelievably thoughtless) nature of his communication, I fear a friendship with G. will be difficult for me. And, sadly, I’m almost certain he’ll scarcely be aware I'm not there.

What! REALLY? I mean, seriously?

So he really was a John! I KNEW it all along! And now we can start a club. The "Look, A Lame-Ass Broke Up With Us Over Email, Like We Are Still In THE SEVENTH GRADE" club.

I'll make the t-shirts.

(I LOVE you, Hans. I can't wait to hug you. SOON.)

Also, fair warning: I'm calling you way too early tomorrow. Because I can. And because I miss you.

That's IT! THAT is the slogan for our t-shirts.

"31 is the new 12."
