INTIMATE

we want to be wanted,
asked before taken or touched
then taken and tasted and
savored sometimes, or
quickly devoured
like sipping too slowly
means missing an inch
or a kiss, an embrace
and we want to be wanted,
consumed and caressed,
caught up in this business
of being beside,
all this next-to-you naked
and bodies entangled,
the weight and the wet,
the way somewhere in here
is an eye to an eye,
an authentic exchange
amidst thigh against thigh,
a moment of real, intimate
and exposed,
a moment in which
we transcend our own sex

and engage
