wise words

“I am a writer because it’s how I interpret the world.”

I heard these words spoken by this wise, wise woman during a reading she gave at Powell’s—the official headquarters of the ever-so-awesome English Nerdery and my personal literary paradise—last year. I doubt Faith would even recall making this statement, but I was struck by the profundity and truth therein contained, and I have carried that truth with me ever since.

Writing is how I make sense of my life. Maybe that’s enough to make me a writer.

Maybe not.

Either way—and in spite of threats to the contrary—this site is here to stay, as the People (two of them, in fact) have requested the posting be perpetuated. And who am I to disappoint the fans?

I love you guys.
