my hiatus from here = over
(on account of this is too good not to share)
Earlier this evening, I had myself a Sex in the City, Post-It note break-up moment—or the internet equivalent, at least. The man I have been (on-and-off and dysfunctionally, yes, but still consistently) dating for the past eighteen months, sent an email expressing his desire to cease seeing me romantically, and requesting that we redefine our relationship in terms of friendship alone at this point.
Truth be told, I had reached a similar conclusion in recent days, as hungry for clarity (see: friendship over romance and/or sex) as G. (the man of whom I write) has revealed himself to be. The difference: explaining my position and decision to no longer date G. is something I would never have considered not doing in person.
Clearly, G. is unaware that an email is no way to end (or attempt to reshape) a relationship. An internet break-up is lacking in:
1) respect for the recipient,
2) emotional maturity, and
3) common decency.
In light of the unbelievable (and unbelievably thoughtless) nature of his communication, I fear a friendship with G. will be difficult for me. And, sadly, I’m almost certain he’ll scarcely be aware I'm not there.

fyi for my very few readers
Today, in a moment of near-impulsivity, I almost deleted this blog, convinced my apparent inability to compose decently (or often at all) in recent months might be reason enough to put this sad little internet project out of its literary misery by erasing it entirely and irretrievably. The fact that this site continues to exist is proof I could not bring myself to complete the deletion process. Although I will allow old posts to stay as they are, I have decided to (temporarily? permanently?) abandon said sad project on account of my current lack of compositional competency or inspiration. And while I know very few of you will miss my generally misguided (and infrequent) attempts at literary entertainment, thank you anyway for reading when you have.
