putting on my pensive pants

It’s easy to assume we’re insignificant, that our existence is inconsequential to others unless we actively make it otherwise, that we only affect the bigger picture and make an impact on the people we encounter if that is our intention. The truth is, it’s impossible to be in the world without affecting it, to interact with others and not leave an impression, regardless of our desire (or lack thereof) to do so. Mutual (and often inadvertent) influence, is a blessing and a curse of the human condition. We are—even in our moments of isolation, even when we feel distant and disconnected, alone and aloof—always affecting someone. We are always and necessarily connected. Always.

Does it surprise you that I initially read "pensive" as "penis"?
